Mail-Order Promise
by Caroline Clemmons

Ellie Dickerson and her sister are in desperate straits when she contracts to become a mail-order bride to a Texas rancher. After her arduous trip from Virginia, she learns her fiancé has died. His handsome brother has sworn to take care of her and she's instantly attracted to him, but he seems indifferent toward her. What will happen to her and her sister?

Kage Johanssen, co-owner of a ranch in Idaho with his cousin Matt, is forced to take over his family's Central Texas ranch on the death of his older brother. Kage is in no hurry to get married, and when his brother's bride shows up, she's everything he doesn't want in a wife--except she's stunningly beautiful. Despite his deathbed promise to his brother and his attraction to Ellie, he's convinced she doesn't have the grit to be a rancher's wife.

When a greedy, sadistic villain attempts to take over the ranch and kill Kage, can Ellie save her true love? What will it take to prove that she's the only woman for Kage?

Mail-Order Ruckus
by Jacquie Rogers

Matt Johanssen returned to the ranch he and his cousin Kage started in Owyhee County, Idaho Territory, not knowing he took Laura Dickerson's heart with him. Now that her sister no longer needs her, Laura wants a home of her own and a family to put in it. No other man would fill the bill as well as Matt, but he's not interested. Not wanting to live as a spinster aunt the rest of her life, Laura signs a contract with a marriage broker, choosing to go to Silver City, near Matt's ranch, in hopes that he might come around. But he's not on the roster of eligible grooms!

When Matt sees Laura among the brides on display on the balcony of the Idaho Hotel, he feels gutshot. He's in no position to take a wife, not with a ranch eating up every spare moment and dollar. But if he doesn't step forward, the one woman he wants will be wed at the end of the week--and not to him.

Will Matt walk away from the woman who stole his heart or let go of everything he's worked so hard to build go in exchange for love?

This double story book is so good that it was hard to put down. Started with "Mail-Order Promises" and ended with "Mail Order Ruckus" It is a intertwined story that starts with baby sister Ellie and ends with big sister Laura both being mail-order brides, Started with the ladies traveling from back east to the rough and wild Texas area to marry, unfortunately when they arrive the intended groom was died, and his brother promised that he would marry, but it was a death bed promise that brother Kage had no intention of fulfilling.Things happen on the ranch that makes him look at her with a new eye and then the fun begins.

Sister Laura is feeling like a fifth wheel so she contacts the marriage broker to take her to Idaho to find her own home and family. She is hoping to find cousin Matt, who is ranching in the Owyhee county area that she secretly fell in love with while he was in Texas. He is not interested in a wife when she arrives, but he doesn't want any one else to have her, so the chase begins. This story was so good that I was looking for more of these ladies story when the book ended. I highly recommend this book to all that love the western romance and the mail-order brides stories.

Mail Order Tangle edition by Caroline Clemmons Jacquie Rogers Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

What wonderful stories! Caroline Clemmons & Jacquie Rogers have come up with some wonderful characters in this book. The Johannsens' are Dutch immigrants who have raised their family in Texas, and you will fall in love with cousins Kage & Matt, who started their own ranch in Idaho. Laura & Ellie have left Virginia hoping to begin a new life in Texas. Confused yet? Ha ha, you won't be for long! Ellie is a mail order bride for Erik Johannsen, but, wait he just died! Oh boy, well you will just have to read the book to find out what happens, who ends up with who? Then there's Laura, will she live with Ellie and her husband, or, wait a minute, she becomes a mail order bride!
These two stories are full of laughs. Here is my favorite quote from the book, 'Good grief on a biscuit, she'd picked up her drawers and thrown them at him.' I hope you will buy this book, I sure recommend it!
In an attempt to help her sister Laura out of a pickle, Ellie signs up as a mail order bride. Together, the duo makes the long trek from Virginia to Texas to meet Ellie's groom. What they find at the end of their journey is not what they expected. Kage and his cousin Matt arrive in Texas a day earlier from Idaho to pick up some cattle to take back to their ranch. Fate throws those four wonderful people together and they are forced to deal with life changing situations. Oh the web we weave! I encourage you to read this lovely book, which I could not put down. Not only are the main characters intriguing and well thought out, but I also got a kick out of the secondary characters in this book. You will find adventure, humor and a real feel for the Old West where men were men and women were woman, forged in the fire of life. You get two books for the price of one, both interconnected with the same characters and story line. Authors Caroline Clemmons and Jacquie Rogers are onto a great writing partnership that really works for me! Well done!
This is a wonderful book written by Caroline Clemmons and Jackie Rogers. It is written as two books and each can stand alone, but read together really makes the stories more interesting.

Ms. Clemmons book, Mail Order Promise, is about a young rancher, Kage Johanssen, who returns to his family home only to find that his elder brother, Eric, is dying from a riding accident. Eric has sent for a mail order bride and asks that Kage marry her in his place. After making the promise Kage states that he will not marry her; he only made the promise so Eric would die in peace. When the Mail Order Bride, Ellie Dickerson, arrives, she brings her sister with her, so Laura could avoid marring an old man. When Kage and Ellie meet there are no friendly feelings, and sparks fly. The books is well written and very entertaining.

Ms. Rogers book, Mail Order Ruckus, follows Kage's cousin Matt and Laura. Kage was very disappointed that he could not return to the ranch he and Matt had started in the Idaho Territory, but Matt has returned to make the ranch a success. He has stated that he could not afford to marry for at least two years till the ranch become profitable. Laura has developed feeling for Matt, but does not feel she can wait two years for him to return, so she contracts to go to the Idaho Territory as a Mail Order Bride. Needless to say when Matt see her everything becomes more complicated because there is only one week before all the brides must marry. The story is attention grabbing and has some very funny moments.

I truely recommend this book to everyone.
In the boxed set, Mail Order Tangle, you get two for the price of one! Both written by very talented authors. The two stories are intertwined about two sisters who have come from a very lavish lifestyle only to find themselves in the depths of despair. The first book, Mail Order Promise, by Caroline Clemmons tells the story of the younger sister Ellie and how she has grown up protected by her sister Laura. They answer an ad for mail order brides and travel west to Texas only to find that Ellie's husband to be died before they got there. This story is about how Ellie overcomes adversity to become a productive member of her new family and wins over Kage, the brother of her deceased fiancé'.
Jacquie Rogers takes over the story Mail Order Ruckus, at this point. After Ellie is settled Laura finds herself at loose ends. She contacts the marriage broker, determined to go to Idaho and win the heart of Matt, the cousin of Kage. When she gets to Idaho she has one week to convince Matt that she is the one for him but Matt is not in the market for a wife.
Both stories are full of adventure, action, villains, love and a sense of humor. These two authors have written books that I could not put down. I highly recommend this two for one bargain by two very talented authors.
